Bodenham Parish Council Notice

The next Parish Council meetings are scheduled to take place on Mondays 12th April and10th May (5th April and 3rd May are a bank holidays). The May Meeting will also include the Annual Meetings of the Parish and the Parish Council. Under current circumstances at the time of writing the Meetings will be held via Zoom. The Meeting ID and Password will be published on all forums as soon as they are known, but, if you require details, or further information, or wish to raise any matter in advance of the meeting, please contact Chris Smith, Parish Clerk, on 01568-797132 or by email at bodenhampcclerk@gmail.com. Minutes of Parish Council Meetings are available on the website - www.bodenhamparish.org.uk.

Vacancy on the Parish Council
Related to the above, the Parish Council has decided that Zoom is not a conducive medium for allowing the usual procedures for making a co-option to the Parish Council to be followed. Accordingly, the vacancy will be filled at the Annual Meeting in May, if that is a face-to-face meeting, or at the next face-to-face meeting thereafter. At the time of writing, two names have been put forward, but the opportunity to put yourself forward or to nominate someone is still open.

The New Parish Council Website is www.bodenhamparish.gov.uk. At the moment the new website contains only basic information about the Parish Council., but will be gradually enhanced to contain all the information on the existing website - www.bodenhamparish.org.uk, which will remain operative until the end of the year. Updates will follow. The Parish Clerk wishes to thank all who submitted photographs for the Home Page of the new website, having hoped that a scrolling display could include most of the photographs. Unfortunately, only three could be used, but a dedicated photos page will appear on the website at a later date.

The SID (Speed Indicator Device)…….
…… should be delivered soon. It is an ANPR (Automatic Numberplate Recognition) device, which should make it more effective than the old SID. Watch this space.

Reporting Potholes and Other Defects
Please note that, although the Parish Clerk is frequently asked to report defects (especially potholes and blocked drains), the Locality Steward for Bodenham has asked that residents report defects themselves, because they know exactly where the defect is and what it is.

It is easy to do. The Herefordshire Council website has a reporting tool at https://www.herefordshire.gov.uk/report-problem which is very easy to use. www.fixmystreet.com is a national site and is even easier to use: it uses the Ordnance Survey map, which is more accurate and detailed than the Herefordshire Council map. FixMyStreet will forward a report to Herefordshire Council about any problem reported within a Herefordshire postcode.

Planning Applications
At the March Meeting of the Parish Council the following planning matters were considered:

  • P210156: Pigeon House: Proposed replacement boundary wall (stone) and installation of pair of gates.

  • P210723/PA7: Gritt Farm: Application for prior notification of a proposed new agricultural building for use as a straw barn.

  • The Parish Council made no objection to the first of these applications, while the second one, as a prior notification, required no response.

The following applications are still to be determined:

  • P192272/F: Rear of Mendip, New Dwelling.

  • P201414/F: Workshop 1, Hamwyn Joinery, Extension for Living Accommodation.

  • The new website should eventually include a list of all planning applications in Bodenham from the start of this year and links to the applications on the Herefordshire Council website.
